Biography

Perry began his music career early in life, taking up a post of church organist and choirmaster in his home town of Nottingham whilst still of school age. In his teens he toured as keyboard player for hit-making USA soul legends The Fantastics and underground and groundbreaking funk masters Rootz. After receiving a diploma from Trinity College London he was awarded a scholarship to attend the prestigious conservatoire The Guildhall School of Music and Drama where, during four years as a graduate and post-graduate, he acquired a broad range of musical skills including performance, composition, orchestration and conducting.

Following his time at the Guildhall Perry remained in London where he enjoyed a successful music career in which he co-wrote, produced, recorded and performed with a wide array of popular artistes from Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Wishbone Ash, The Eric Clapton Band, Jimmy Scott (Chicago, Kenny Rogers) and Barry Manilow (backing vocals on live tour) among others.

At age 30 Perry informed his music agents he was taking a 6 month sabbatical from music to concentrate on his passion for horses. The sabbatical lasted longer than planned and he became a world authority on classical horsemanship and the author of eight published books on the subject of classical riding, horse whispering and people whispering (the art of people communication).

Perry has continued to write and produce commercially exploited music, including best selling instrumental music for New World Music record label, his library music is on release in cinema and tv, including long running series Midsommer Murders. As an accomplished pianist Perry is still called upon to perform and record regularly.  Perry lives on an Exmoor farm in South West UK with his wife and herd of horses, where his state of the art recording suite produces his commercial recordings.
